Resumo: In this article, the author reviews a book series on fraternity, published
in Spanish since 2006, that is the result of a new interest among
Latin American scholars in the topic of fraternity. Most of the books
in the series are edited volumes that include perspectives from several
disciplines in the social sciences and the humanities. Latin American
scholars have responded to an intellectual challenge brought from Italy
to the region by Antonio Baggio’s seminal work on this topic. In the
last five years, studies on fraternity have expanded throughout Latin
America, as they have increasingly captured the attention from scholars
and students from several countries. As an introduction to specific
questions and findings on the study of fraternity, this article begins
with a description of the vital academic collaboration that this research
theme has developed, notably through he University Network for the

Resumo: Tre libri, di tre diversi editori sono usciti contemporaneamente in Brasile,
in occasione dell’istituzione, il 25 marzo 2014 a Recife (Pernambuco), della
Cattedra Chiara Lubich di fraternità e umanesimo. Ciascuno è frutto maturo
di un progetto di lunga durata.
Il primo, Fraternidade e Humanismo1, è l’edizione in portoghese del libro
pubblicato contemporaneamente, in italiano, col titolo Carisma, Storia,
Cultura: una lettura interdisciplinare del pensiero di Chiara Lubich2. Il testo
brasiliano è arricchito da un saggio in più, non contenuto nell’edizione italiana,
di Maria Voce, Presidente del Movimento dei Focolari, su: A visão do
homen em Chiara Lubich3. Che lo si legga in italiano o in portoghese, il libro
è prezioso, perché presenta studi di sintesi su diversi e complementari aspetti
del pensiero chiariano: il carismatico-teologico (P. Coda), il sociologico
(V. Araújo), la relazione tra razionalità scientifica e sapienza (S. Rondinara),
l’economia (L. Bruni), il diritto (A. Cosseddu), la politica (A.M. Baggio),
